NITCO Acquires Cable TV Service Provider | Northwest Indiana Commercial Securities

Northwestern Indiana Telephone Co., better known as NITCO, has acquired TV Cable from Rensselaer and Morocco for an undisclosed amount.

The Hebron-based telecommunications provider will take over TV Cable, a provider of ZING Cable TV, high-speed Internet and voice services to residential and business customers in southern Jasper and Newton counties.

Rensselaer and Morocco cable TV dates back to 1966.

“For more than 50 years, our family has served the community well, first with cable television and then with the advent of the Internet,” said Steve Filson, president of Cable TV. “Today, we hand over the keys to NITCO knowing that the family business of companies like ours and like NITCO, believe in quality service and active participation in the community.

NITCO, which was launched in 1939 and provides broadband, telecommunications, fiber optic and telephone infrastructure, will expand its presence in Jasper and Newton counties. It also serves Lake and Porter counties, where it has expanded its high-speed broadband Internet.

The telecommunications company serves 8,000 residential customers and 900 business customers, including Porter County Government, City of Chesterton, City of Valparaiso and Fair Oaks Farms.

“We would like to thank the Filson family for their leadership for more than 50 years in the development and growth of cable television and Internet services,” said Tom Long, president of NITCO. “We also welcome Rensselaer/Morocco Cable TV employees and Rensselaer and Morocco residents and businesses to the NITCO family.”
